Westmount, Edmonton is a small residential neighbourhood located just west of downtown and consisting of over 5,900 residents. Construction of Westmount dates back to 1910, when a housing development for young professionals was established. Just under 900 homes were constructed prior to the conclusion of World War II. The area doubled in size by 1960, and grew until 1980. The tight-knit community has stayed relatively unchanged since 1980, and is known as one of the friendliest in Edmonton.
