Lectures can be a drag but are not required. However, the professor provides students with many resources from practice problems to review sessions for every exam that go over all the types of questions he may ask. He even offers a free burger night where students can socialize with him and each other. He truly wants the best for his students!

Shockingly the only GOOD comp sci professor at UNF! I was genuinely surprised when he was teaching this class, super sweet and genuine. Actually wants his students to succeed and offers CONSTANT help outside of class. Don't get me wrong, it is a tough class but taking him actually made it so much easier. Study hard though for the quizzes & final!

Best professor I've had, for any class. He's incredibly kind, easygoing, and cares about his students. He's very receptive of questions and goes out of his way to make sure his students succeed. Lectures and review sessions are offered hybrid and also recorded so you can watch them at any time to learn at your own pace.

I'm almost finished with my university experience, and it's been a year since I took him, and looking back, he's definitely one of the best professors here. He is passionate, and kind, and even has a burger night where he buys us burgers. He knows computer networks inside out and can talk about it for hours. He has a voice that keeps you engaged.

Amazing professor: engaging lectures, extra credit, quiz material covered in lectures, provides a review session for quizzes. As for the projects, taking Data Structures (COP3530) before or during the class helps immensely, but if you're still struggling he's very easy to work with. Classes are recorded and can be missed with no penalty.

Probably the best SoC professor that I've had. He is very caring and wants his students to succeed! The class itself can be difficult but his office hours and recitation sessions for the quizzes/final exam are amazing. Strongly recommend Prof. K!

You really couldn't ask for a better professor, especially for this class. Inspiring guy and really wants to see his students succeed. This class is tough and a lot information thrown at you. The projects are kind of hard but they are manageable. He is always available for help, and can really break it down for you if don't understand a topic.

John Kelly is truly a gem. I wasnt doing so well in his class and reached out for extra credit. He responded, gave me an assignment and made sure I passed the class. There was one group project but he didn't let it linger or provide hard to meet goals for it. Amazing man.

This man is hands-down one of the best professors I've ever had. Professor Kelly cares about his students' success and is willing to invest in their futures! Having worked in his field, he knows the ins and outs of computer networking. Top notch professor and an absolute gem. Take his CNT4504 class if you can.

Incredible and fascinating professor who genuinely cares for his students and their success. His recitations before each quiz both reinforced my learning and made the quizzes easier to study for. The server projects can be difficult, but he's very lenient on the due dates. He is respected by all as both a professor and as a person.

He's a great guy and deeply cares about his students and their futures. Most of the class is great, but I feel like the two projects are just too advanced for many of the students. Even intermediate students found it challenging, so I can't even imagine how difficult it was for beginners. I feel like this class needs more pre-requisites.

Although the material was challenging, Kelly's study guides for the tests were super helpful to use for preparation. He even had study sessions where he would go over the study guides and help answer the questions. There are 2 projects done with the same group of 2-3 people, and he is willing to help you out in office hours. Great professor!
